A Very Special Wedding!

Wow!

Look at this place!  This is the Marty Leonard Chapel in Fort Worth, TX.  It is early April, and a very great wedding is about to take place.

This is where I get to give the bride, my niece, away.  What an honor!

I shall do my best to be a good bride-aisle-walker-downer.

St. Francis and a squirrel.

Liz fixes Ricardo's boutonierre.

Of course, the beauty of the chapel is no match for the beauty of the bride.

Bubbles.

Robert, me, Ricardo, Nicky and Liz.

Congratulations Nicky and Ricardo!

The first two photos were stolen from the chapel's website.  The last three, along with the boutonierre photo, were cheerfully stolen from Facebook.

Fragile Moments

"There are things that we don't want to happen but have to accept,
things we don't want to know but have to learn,
and people we can't live without but have to let go."

Happy Valentine's Day!

Photo from an Arabic site.
The Night Has A Thousand Eyes
by Francis William Bourdillon

The night has a thousand eyes,
And the day but one;
Yet the light of the bright world dies
With the dying of the sun.

The mind has a thousand eyes,
And the heart but one;
Yet the light of a whole life dies
When love is done.

Happy Birthday Liz!

My lovely and gracious wife celebrated her birthday today. I shall not reveal her age, but the theme of the cake was "Area 51". (Scratch & Sniff.)

A Wedding!

Yesterday we went to a wedding. It was unusual in several ways. First, the couple had already stood before a justice of the peace and gotten married over a month ago. Since then, Cary (the groom) decided that he wanted a public ceremony.

It was also unusual and very happy because we thought this friend would never find anyone.

Liz has been counseling Cary for many years. He decided many years ago that my wife had "words of knowledge" from the Lord. Liz said no, it's just common sense. "What does God reveal?" he would often ask.

Anyway, Cary met Rose a little less than a year ago, and things just seemed to click. We wish them every happiness.

Liz Gets a Great Evaluation!

My lovely and gracious wife got a great job evaluation! In the four areas in which she was judged, she was rated as "exceeding expectations" in two and as "proficient" in two others! No other first year teacher has been rated so highly in the past 11 years, according to Mrs. Hayes, her principal. Way to go, Liz!

Blog Your Many Blessings

Hello again!
I want you to know that I am richly blest! Here are ten blessings I am thankful for (not always in order):
  1. A wonderful Savior. Because I need saving. He always reaches out to love the unloveable (that would be me). He is constantly watching over me, even more so than the frog.
2. My loving and gracious wife, Liz. I could not have made the last 19 years without you. I love you so much.
3. Robert, my one and only son. What a treasure you are. You are the apple of my eye.

4. Our health. Liz went through surgery this year, and Robert has been hospitalized in the past. I thank God they're both doing well now. As for me, I feel great. 5. Our family and friends who support us and pray for us. You know who you are. You are appreciated and loved.

6. Our church family. Every Sunday I get to teach a class of around 6 elementary-age children about God. I get to lead worship in church on a regular basis. What a blessing!

7. Great jobs. My wife will be teaching second grade this coming year. And I get to travel around and audit stores, and I've only been threatened once in 19 years with death and dismemberment, but that's another story.

8. Great food. What a gift from God! He chose to make eating enjoyable! I probably enjoy it a little too much!

9. Living in America. Still the greatest nation on God's green earth.

10. Living in Frogtown. One of the earth's most beautiful places.
