Landmarks

Robert takes spooky, surrealistic pictures."Come on, Robert. Give me the camera." My job requires me to drive long distances. This is the first in a series of pictures of landmarks which I see at least once a month during my travels. This is the "rooster stump" at the entrance to the Kermit Sandhills, about ten miles northwest of Kermit. Just be sure to keep the gate closed, or else ... "BAWK BAWK!" The Kermit Sandhills are the dune buggy capital of West Texas.
Next up is Andrews, Texas, where a famous author used to attend this church. (Cue the angelic choir now.)Seagraves, Texas has an abandoned motel called Cotton Country USA, which is adorned with images of Hollywood stars. Here is the Marilyn door.
Speaking of Seagraves, a resident of that town wrote a neat post here about a new church that started up three years ago in Lubbock. They met at the strip, which is where all the liquor stores are. I think they have since found other quarters. Check it out.

Is that a Marilyn Monroe plate in the background pic of you?

Come on, let the boy have the camera! He has an eye for photography and you may one day need him to support you. LOL

Anonymous: Yes, that's the Marilyn room. And you're right, I'll let Robert use the camera more.

I found your long-ago link just now & came on a visit. Love your on-the-road pix, especially the chain saw sculpt of the chicken, two subjects I collect photos of (collectible chickens & chain saw art.) Your Marilyn door beats my ghostly Marilyn in a window all hollow. And one of these days, I will scan & post old pix of Dante's Descent, a 300-foot deep sink hole in Northern AZ! Do visit again one of these days.

Granny J: Thanks for visiting. I found your site when I was searching for horned toads on the web. Stop by again!
